TANZANIA

Tanzania is a land of extremes. The Serengeti hosts the Great Migration. Watching it recalibrates a person. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world and holds the Big Five within its walls. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain on the planet. The country is also blessed with easy access to Zanzibar, a must for some unscheduled R&R on idyllic white sands following the long structured safari days before reluctantly returning home.

Where You'll Stay
We spend a lot of time obsessing over the perfect accommodations. Our favorites tend to be smaller, boutique properties with a unique sense of style and fantastic service.
Here are just a few of our favorites...
Three of Our Favorite Spots

The Serengeti
01
The Serengeti has long been the stage for the Great Migration, with its endless savannah cinematically dotted with ancient acacia trees and a horizon that refuses to end. With nearly two million animals inhabiting this land, central Tanzania offers some of the densest big cat and plains game-viewing on the continent.

Ngorongoro
02
The largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth is a self-contained ecosystem with the Big Five concentrated inside its walls. Standing at its rim, it is impossible to fathom what awaits before you descend. Nearby, Olduvai Gorge is where some of the earliest evidence of human existence was found, which puts your whole trip in perspective.

Kilimanjaro
03
The highest mountain in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain on the planet rises straight out of the plains through rainforest, moorland, and glacial ice, drawing climbers from around the world to its snow-capped summit. The foothills are home to some of Tanzania's most productive coffee farms, and a walk through the plantations is an excellent way to spend a morning before or after a mountain adventure.
